New Hair Style

I recently cut a bunch of my hair off (it was just too hot-and who wants to do hair when it is hot).  Allie said she liked it and I asked if she wanted her hair cut.  She said yes.  I was shocked.  Usually when I need to comb it and she is resistant I tell her we will just have to cut her hair short.  She has always screamed NO!!!  I didn't do anything about it at first but one day again I asked if she would want to cut her hair and she said yes so it would be like mine.  So even though I was a bit sad at seeing that beautiful long hair go I did it.  She really did fuss ALL THE TIME when it came to getting her hair done so I knew this would be easier and cooler.

Washing the Car

We should know by now that if there is water any where near our kids they are more than likely going to be soaked.  Helping dad wash the car is no exception.  Well actually I don't think Allie was soaked (she was holding the hose).  Brailie was drenched-she kept wanting a drink from the hose Allie was holding (Enough said right).

And she thought she was just so funny doing it too.

Painting Allie's New Bed

This was a day that Allie refused to nap and everyone (mom, dad and Allie) were super cranky because of it.  I was heading outside to paint her new bed frame I bought at the thrift store and she begged to help.  I wanted to say no but decided I better say yes and I am so glad I did.  She did a fantastic job and had so much fun and it was a good memory moment.

Allie was pretending to take pictures with an old camera we have for the girls to play with and I decided that maybe I should just let her use my camera (since I have been using our newer and better camera).  I showed her what to do and let her go to town.  She loved it and is quite the photographer.  Here are some of my favorites from her photo session.

It's Official

I am a proud diaperbagless woman. Today (July 17th) I went to church without a diaper bag for the first time in 3+ years.  Miss Brailie is officially potty trained.  It wasn't my idea and I didn't push the issue at all but Brailie is always wanting to do whatever Allie does so it wasn't much of a surprise when she basically decided herself to learn to use the potty.  We still do pull ups at night because she has not yet got that figured out but we have been going strong for a week and the last 3 days she hasn't had an accident.  YAHOO to diaperless days.

Now what will I do with an extra $30.00 a month?

Popcorn Bopping and Video Overload

I bought this CD recently at Deseret Book for the girls.  It is dance mix versions of popular church kids songs.  I am telling you what some may think it is blasphemy but I LOVE IT!!!!  I probably love it so much because if we had had this when i was a kid my brothers and Tovah and I would have been putting together some major performances and hitting the road to become rich and famous.  I think I could possibly be found driving with this CD playing in my car...without my kids in toe.  Totally reminds me of my childhood.  Oh and did I mention that the girls love it.  Allie is really into dancing right now (just not as much when I try and video) but this is really bringing out some new dance moves in this little girl.  This CD and the Strawberry Shortcake Sing and Dance Along CD.  I am adding a selection of dance related videos (mostly for my mom) but I am sure I know a few others who will get a kick out of them.

4th of July Weekend

Greg and I decided that since we are staying home for the summer and being pretty low key that we would splurge and buy tickets to see Stadium of Fire which had David Archuleta (kinda had a crush on him when he was on Idol) and Brad Paisley.  We made a weekend out of it and went and stayed with Auntie Helen and Uncle Doug.  On Friday when we got to Spanish Fork we stopped by this new sprinkler park they have.  It was blazing hot so the water was so refreshing for the girls.  We didn't bother with swim suits and just had a great time.

Then we went to Auntie Helens.  The girls had a lot of fun and Brailie worked on her stair climbing.  One of their favorite things was picking the peas.  We have peas at our house but I guess it was more exciting at someone else's house.

On Saturday morning we just relaxed around the house.  Uncle Doug showed Allie his huge lollipop flowers.  The girls thought those were awesome.

The girls were playing in the backyard.  Allie found this little hoe that was just her size and said she needed to do some work.  She even asked if we could buy one of those for her.

On Saturday evening after we had gone shopping, had a picnic and some super great naps that afternoon we went to Stadium of Fire.  Let me just say that parents going to Stadium of Fire with kids should get a free ice cream or something.  You have to park blocks away.  We had to carry both of our kids most of the walk to the stadium.  It was soooooo hot.  Then once we got in we had to walk around half the stadium and then up a what felt like never ending ramp.  We stopped for a huge snowcone on the way up and man did we need it.  Good thing I hadn't spent much time on makeup or doing my hair before hand because I was a sweaty mess when we finally got to our seats.

As you can see from where we were sitting the stage was pretty teeny but the sound was still good.  It was really fun.  I was afraid the girls would not last but they had a great time.  The people above us spilled their popcorn at the start so the girls helped with the clean up.  Brailie was so interested in the fireworks taking place outside of the stadium she could have cared less about what was happening.  Allie didn't like the loud fireworks but otherwise she loved the music.  Her current favorite song is "Baby You're a Firework" and she knows most of the chorus.
