Baseball Trip

Baseball season is upon us.  The time has come to sit out in the blazing sun and watch baseball.  Greg has a young team this year (and that provides some comic relief) but they are doing pretty well.  These pictures were from our first bus trip which was to my old stompin grounds in Orderville.  The girls love the bus and Grandma and Grandpa came this time (cause Grandpa drove the bus) and that was even better because one of the most entertaining things on the trip was throwing ice at Grandpa.

They are very good at cheering but pretty much don't really even know that a baseball game is going on-just that they get to eat lots of snacks and play with new toys from the diaper bag and sit under the umbrella.

At the Ballpark

Sorry-this is a picture heavy post.  We went down to the little league game the other night and the lighting was magnificent and I just couldn't stop snapping pictures (this may be becoming and addiction-sometimes Allie says, "are you done taking pictures yet?" NEVER!!!!)  There is no real significance in any of these pictures-just wanted to show off my cute kids.

Allie rode her bike all the way there.  She is getting so good at riding (she kinda gets distracted sometimes and goes all over and she hasn't figured out how to plug her ears so she doesn't have to hear the dogs and steer at the same time)

Baseball 1/4 finals

Greg's baseball team made it to the 1/4 finals this year. The game was played in Spanish Fork. The day was horribly windy and cold. I was not nearly prepared enough with clothes for my girls but luckily it didn't last all day-just during Greg's game. His team did not win but they played really well. That is the bummer about sports. Someone always has to lose. Just wish it wasn't us. The girls had a blast. Well Allie for sure. She loved every minute of running around and playing with "berella's" (umbrellas).

Yesterday (Thursday Sept 30) was the last home baseball game of the season and it was a big game to determine the region champs. The girls and I got ourselves ready to go after nap time and headed off. Allie even agreed to wear a baseball cap so she could look like Sarah (her hero-she said). Sarah plays baseball. So off we went. It is more work to go to the game than it is for any of the kids playing baseball I just have to add. I had a baby in a stroller, a diaper bag, a cooler, a blanket, an umbrella and a toddler, not to mention a potty that was left in the car in case it was needed and a folding chair also left in the car in case it was needed. I was simply exhausted by the time the games were done and felt like a human burp cloth but it was great to see the team play together and win both of their games and take the region championship.

Ahh and Baseball officially is underway

Whether I like it or not, yet another sports season has begun. I am not so much bummed about the actual sport itself, but the fact that it means that the dreaded "S" word is about to begin, combined with the sports season and practice and that means a whole heck of a lot of time to entertain the children on my own plus make the house run smoothly. But don't worry people, I can do it, I am... SUPERMOM!!!! But I digress. Like I said baseball has officially begun with the Valley tournament this past weekend in Orderville (my former stompin grounds and the place where Greg and I met). Considering that 3 of the 4 of us were puking our guts out the day before we had to leave and Brailie decided to puke her guts out at the actual tournament, I would have to say the weekend was pretty good. Well minus:

-the sweltering heat

-the matchbox sized hotel room with the paper thin walls, paper thin mattresses and tacky bedspreads

-the pool that suddenly was closed for construction (looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a month)

-changing diarrhea diapers in a collapsible camping chair during the baseball games

-having Allie show her "terrible" side on the bus ride home, screeching to be let out of her carseat for over 30 minutes straight

-A terrible kink in my neck caused by the lack of sleep on the paper thin mattress

Thank heavens it was the one and only overnighter for the season. With a toddler and a baby who would rather be standing and holding on to something- it is just too hard to get much out of a baseball game let me just say. But we did have fun and I had a great time visiting with some of my former co-workers from Valley and especially seeing 3 of my 4 favorite boy students that have recently returned home from missions. That was the best part. Here are the rest of the highlights I caught with my camera amidst the previous mentioned items.

Thank heavens for Carly Swalberg. This girl is our neighbor. She is going into the 7th grade. Allie adores everything about Carly. She loves to play with her and Carly is so good to play back.

Unfortunately the team only won 1 out of the 3 games they played but they played really well in the other two games, they just couldn't keep it going right to the end. They are great kids and we look forward to hanging out with them for the next couple of months. As Allie has learned to say "L..E..T..S...G..O.. Lets go, Pirates"
